The changing Face of Tv suggestions to survive

hello all
over the past couple of years I have noticed a trend that is not a good one in TV, that trend is that cheaper is better, this is wrong. Now Tv for all technical trms is on the ropes for because now they have a new competitor, the internet. Here are some suggestions for the tv companies that from a long time viewer need to happen or else my kids will not be tuning in to tv they will be tuning into the internet.


1. Update the Nielsen ratings
For those who don't know the Nielsen ratings are the rating system by which tv companies determine how many people are watching shows and also for advertisers to determine whether to buy time for commercial during those shows, these rating systems need to change they have only been upgraded, but they need to be completely overhauls because of the internet, if this aint done then good shows will continue getting the axe for bad numbers


2. Don't try and fight the internet.
Tv the internet is not your enemy it is a competitor. one that can be used to your benefit. Place shows on your websites, which many have done now. However, also add things to it, like a chat room during General Hospital, or a chat session with the actors during a special time for Sleepy Hollow


3.Stop with all the reality shows
Ok, we get it reality shows are here to stay bt there are way to many of them on right now, they are only so many versions of American idol I can watch before I decide to pop in a DVD or go to another channel, now I am not taking about getting rid of them all together but lower the numbe of them on TV.


4.Stop with the one season stuff.
Nothing makes me more angry than a good show getting cut off its first season. If a show is a mini series then tell us, but if this is going to be a show give it a chance, a good show takes more than 13 episodes to get a fan following.


5.Stop playing it safe take chances
look I get it you want shows that make money, but for a long time TV has made show that make money, they want an instant fan audience. However, some of the great shows built up a audience over time, but more importantly took chances. Start taking chances or else.


6.add to the stories you tell
when a show is good, then you should try to add to it. Video games have started doing this by having tie in novels, show could too. Shows like Sleepy hollow, Scorpion, and others would do well by tie in novels or comics which has begun to happen and more to the point if you could link show with a character from the books appearing on the show that would be great.


7.Know who your audience is and stick with it.
This last one has cause great many TV shows to fall and more and ore garbage to come on TV. Know your audience if you are a channel that is for gamers, or geeks, we will not want to watch reruns of cops. stick to your core group but expand that group with more programming but remember who the core is.


These are just some suggestions however I believe that if things don't change the internet will be the only place to find good TV programming

Captain America Blu Ray Review

Hello all

I just got the Two disc Special Edition Blu Ray of Captain America The Winter Soldier Let me say first off That I saw the movie in theaters and it rocked. IT was an earthquake and it changed a lot about the marvel Universe. It had a lot of Easter eggs for the fans and now that you can see it at home looking over every scene you will find a lot of them. The movie is full of action, suspense, and thrills and scarlett Johanson, Samuel L Jackson, Cobie Smouthers and the other supporting cast members are excellent and but Robert Redford as a villain and Sebastan Stan as The brainwashed Winter Soldier were excellent villains and proved they were the threat cap needed to defeat. The special features I liked from the gag reel was nice, the commentary is as most commentary for movies, the deleted scenes were great and the extended scenes were ok, however I must say I am a little disappointed in Marvel.

This has been the first movie to not have a marvel one shot and I really like this short films. I feel it did a real big disservice to the movie not have one on especially when the movie left a lot open for many one shots. I hope that when Guardians of the Galaxy makes of for this when they come out on Blu ray but still it was a major disservice in my opinion to a great movie. Still it is  good movie one that both fans will love and non fans will enjoy.

Games series that need to return...... Command and Conquer Series

When I first got a pc there were several pc games I wanted to play one of these was the Command and Conquer series of games. All of the games are real time strategy which means you command armies to fight one another Now this series has since split into three different series. One is Command and Conquer Red Alert, Another is Command and conquer tiberium, and the final and most recent split is command and conquer generals. Today I will focus on all three.

Command and Conquer Red Alert.

This is a game series that is both fun to play and has a decent storyline. The main story of this series is that in 1945 Albert Einstein builds a Time machine and goes back in time and kills hitler before his rise to power. Which drastically alters world history causing a world war between the soviets and The allies.

Command and Conquer Tiberium

This series is one of the best series out there in strategy games. The cinematic are remember able and the characters really bring you in. The vehicles and troops are very unique from the Temple of nod towers, to the research bases. All of these bring you into this world and the story just brings you further along. The story revolves around a meteor strike in itlay that causes a new type of mineral called tiberium to be brought to earth, where it spreads. It is revealed this mineral could solve all of our energy problems and over time this mineral is mined. However, a group called the Brotherhood of nod led by a man named kane believes the mineral is holy and launches a series of wars against the Global Defense Initiative to control the mineral and the world. You can play as either the GDI or the Brotherhood of Nod.

Command and Conquer Generals.

This game and its expansion pack zero hour are also like the first two except now you have thee sides. The allies have weapons, the chinese have men, and the terrorist GLA have the resources. All three of these sides play very differently and are very fun and in the levels changes to the battlefield can happen at any time.

Why does this series or game need to return.

These series of games were AWESOME even now when I look at the cinematics on youtube it brings back old memories of the many late night hours trying to get past a nod tower or trying to get enough Tesla troopers on Red Alert to beat the allied base or hoping I can get enough resources to build the ION cannon on Generals. The levels were well thought out and you had to think on your feet often or you would be wiped out. The characters were memorable and the troops you could buy or the tanks you could get were great from the mammoth tanks in generals to the tesla troopers in Red Alert to the snipers in Generals, to the hackers in Generals, to the Scud launchers in Red Alert to the disc thrower in Tiberium these troops and vehicles are some of the most memorable in gaming and with the power of the current gen consoles and pc behind it these games could make a big comeback. Also it could prove to a lot of people that the consoles can handle Strategy games as well as any other game. Lets not forget the multiplayer today great things have been done with multiplayer and the multiplayer of these games was great and offered the multiple modes that are prevailing today in many games.

These games were great for pc gamers back in the day with a lot of remakes being done shouldn't the premier series of RTS games be considered and while recently there was talk of this series coming back it was canceled. I do hope they try again. Because I so want to hear those famous words once again

Fall TV show preview

well it is almost over the summer sun is getting lower in the sky, the kids are returning to school, and football players are getting ready for the season to begin. Fall is almost here but that also means that our shows are coming back on the air. Below you will find some of my favorite shows comeing back on this fall and my thoughts on them enjoy.

Gotham September 22/ fox 7:00 ct (new Series)

The juggernaut of the big screen comes to the small screen with a very interesting twist in this new series based on the batman comics you see how it all began from the point of view of detective Gordon. The detective who would be Commissioner Gordon. You will see the beginnings of many of the most recognized rogues gallery in history. Which in my opinion is where the problem with this series lies. The creators got to do catwoman, and many other characters from the batman universe including a young bruce wayne justice or the fans will leave this show fast. That requires research which I hope and believe has been done based on some of the previews I have seen. This looks to be a very interesting take on a well done universe if done right.

September 22 Sleepy hollow/ Fox 8:00 ct(Returning series)

When we last left sleepy hollow crane had been buried by his son who had turn out to be one of the four horseman of the apocalypse and Abbie was left in purgatory while her sister was hurt from a car accident. This is a great series and I cant wait for them to expand on what happens next. My only problem is the pacing the tempo this season needs to pick up a little still this a great show and I am sooooo glad it is coming back.

September 23 Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.LD/ ABC 8:00 (Returning Series)

where to begin with this, when we last left the agents. Shield was destroyed and nick fury left coulson in charge of rebuilding it. Skye's father now knows where she is thanks to flowers, a secret surrounds skye that not even she knows about, Hydra has risen and ward has been arrested and thrown in jail for being a hydra agent. Agent Simmons is seriously hurt but alive thanks to Agent fitz who saved him him during their escape. Last season one of the biggest complaints about this show is the lack of superheroes and midway through the season a lot of fans left, then SHIELD uprising hit and they lost a lot of information but came back. Now everyone knows that Joss Whedon plays the long game. This is not a series that is a quick one episode and your done series but a connected story series. Now I will admit the series does need more superpowers, I also thank another thing that needs to be done is more connectivity to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe but also to the Marvel Comic Universe.

September 25 Bones/ FOX 7:00 (Returning Series)

Well the big event all of us bones fans had been waiting on finally happened Bones and booth finally got married. This is a great series and while it aint science fiction or fantasy I love it. I love the detective work, the science behind it, also the humor. I have to ask now what is next for the bones team. Now that pelant is dead who can out do plelant and all the damage he did.

September 29 Castle/ ABC 9:00 (Returning Series)

the show that left you either crying or wanting to throw something at the Tv finally answers the questions from last season this fall. When we last left Castle, he was missing while driving to his wedding with Kate. Beckett was at the crash scene and the car was on fire. What happened, the event we all had been waiting on and it is stopped by someone. Is castle dead, is he alive what about Kate this show is great show with a lot of heart. Plus as a fan of the old series Firefly has Nathan Fillion who in the hearts and minds of all us browncoats will always be Captain Malcolm reynolds. Even without that this show is great and I love it.

OCTOBER

October 7 The Flash/CW 7:00ct (New series)

the spinoff of the popular tv series arrow premieres this fall. For many fans of the Arrow series seeing the origin of the superhero the flash on Arrow was just the beginning. Now that the Flash is a series there is so much hope for what this series can do. However, DC needs to dig into catalogue of villians for this series and maybe even some of its heroes and while the movie and TV universes are going to be separate. They still have a chance to link the two. They just got to take the chance and do it right because as of now Marvel is beating Dc in this department and unless something is done soon they will never be on equal footing in the TV department.

October 8 The Arrow/CW 7:00ct (Returning Series)

The most unlikely of Dc heroes struck a cord in season one, in season two it brought many of our favorite heroes and villains to the series and began the Oliver Queen's path to becoming the hero known as the arrow, season three must capitalize on this and with a connection to the Flash Tv series I think it will. Like I said earlier DC has a major opportunity with this series and The flash to bring more of DC Universe to TV if they take the opportunity. Many of their heroes are tv worthy but have yet to appear on Tv now is the time to not only expand the universe of the arrow but to show many of the heroes of the DC universe on the TV screen.

October 2014 Star wars Rebels/Disnety XD Time unknown(new series)

Well unless you have been living under a rock you know that star wars is returning Dec 2015. Also that all the books we have read over the years are no longer canon but that a new canon is being created and from that the first to be created out of that new canon is Star wars rebels. We know a little about the story. Pretty much it all takes place in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and focuses on a rebel cell. So far from what I have seen it is a good series but I have reservations about it. This is the first step in creating a new Extended Universe and if they don't do it right out of the gate then their whole plan is in in trouble. I believe they will as long as the keep mickey and minnie out of this universe I will be happy.

These are the main shows I am keeping my eye on I cant wait for the fall for these shows I hope they live up to my hopes for these series in the coming days I will be posting my thoughts on these and other shows and movies. Let the fall tv season begin.

The desert of Scifi tv

Hello all

 I have ben a fan of science fiction since I first saw Star wars Episode 5 the empire strikes back, way back in 1987. Since then I have been a very big fan of scifi. However it seems here lately though that there is not much scifi on tv. I Think there are a couple of reasons for this.

1^st off the economy it is not cheap most scifi tv involves not just actors but computer graphics and many other things that cost money. To be honest while reality shows may not always be good they are cheap and that matters in a bad economy.

2^nd imagination Somehow I believe we have forgotten how to imagine new worlds. There was a point where we could imagine nearly anything and now it seems we can not that. Now the only thing we can imagine is the next american idol.

3^rd risk most tv is risk adverse they want a sure thing, which is hard to come by in todays world and espically the taste of people.

4th more options a long time ago the only ay people saw tv shows was through a tv now they got many other options and tv is beginning to feel like an antique concept. if this doesn't change then it will be

it is my belief that if something does not change then tv as we know it will go bye bye we need to imagine again whether that is worlds in space or worlds of fantasy or just new worlds in general and tv needs to take risks again or else they will fall to the wayside while those who take risks gain the viewers they so deserve and push the boundries of what is possible.

Blu ray review 2 for one: Lone survivor and Star Trek into Darkness

recently I was fortunate enough to get not one but two BluRays The first one was Lone survivor the second one is Star trek into darkness

Lone survivor

First off let me say when it come to action this movie is hard core, whoever was on this movie really did their homework on how the Navy Seals operation, think, even interact. If you have not heard about this here is the skinny. This movie is based on the book lone survivor by navy seal marcus luttrell, who was the only survivor a special operations mission called operation redwing in 2009. First oof the nuts and bolts of the operation is explained in the extras, from how marcus helped the actors to the operation to how he survived. Speaking of the movie everything about this movie is hardcore, from how they insert, to the personal connections of the men of the navy seal unit, to the operation and the aftermath. The action is intense frenetic and with key moments that have been leading to it. The ending is a big pay off and at the end you see how everything turns out with a few surprises. This is a great movie for most of everyone. No matter your politics or which side of the fence you are on this is a story about the will of a warrior and it does great own to the men who died that day to the men who continue to serve our country

Star trek into darkness

let me say I have never been a star trek fan I have always been a star wars fan but back in 3009 I saw the new star trek series made by j.j.abrams and I liked it not as much as star wars but I thought he did a good job to a series that had gotten stale. In this sequel though I felt a lot more could have been done. First off this is the new story of the enterprise crew trying to stop a madman from destroying the basic tenants of starfleet with the threat of war with the klingons over their head. First off yes Kahn is in this but unlike the one from the original series or movies, this one is not as scary but incredibly cool. Secondly Spock and the rest of the crew could have been done better. Even the new love interest between spock and uhura could have been done better and mor lively but it was good. Another problem is the story, and all the little bits that help tell it all. Certain events and characters seem great but other times they are brought down by others especially the end. With one big event that could have changed star trek forever but because of KAHN didnn't. I was very unhappy by how it was done and felt it could have had more weight if done right but not this time. Still it is a passable movie. Fans of the series would love it but non fans of the series will think it is a ok movie, what really brings down the Bluray is the extra features. Movie companies need to think outside the box on the special feature if the want the public to buy more blu rays and how things was done is not going to cut it which is all this blu ray has. Still an ok movie

Agents of shield Season 2 suggestions

Well we just go some good news Agents of SHIELD has been renewed for a second season which is good news for a lot of us fans who have grown to love the series especially over the course of the show from last fall. Now that a season two is assured here are some suggestions for season two.


1. Draw more characters from the marvel comics universe.
I understand that some of your characters are in legal limbo(spider man, Xmen, Fantastic four) But there are so many characters from the marvel universe that you can tap into like mrs marvel, captain marvel, the kree, skrulls, the watcher, inhumans, and runaways just to name a few. Many of these stories are great and if you could elude to them in small ways on AOS.


2. you have to have more connections to the MCU.
the fall of shield, the rise of hydra, the attack on new York. The invasion of the dark elves. all of these have been connected to AOS in some way some small some large but you need to have more connections. There are some great MCU movies coming down the pike and AOS could be used to lay the groundwork for what is coming.


3 more characters have to show up.
Seeing Maria hill, every couple of episodes is nice but more of the characters we know and love have to show up we need to see Cap, Thor, Tony Stark pepper, or even Rhodey. If you are going to connect the two do it right with the names we know.


4.hydra cannot be the only bad organization out there
Hydra is a truly bad organization but sneaky which is why it took the destruction of shield to truly stop them. Yet they can be the only bad guys out there remember AIM.


These are just a few suggestions here is hoping season two is as great as season one.

Captain America The Winter Soldier Movie Theatre Review

Hello Everyone
Last night i saw an early opening for Captain America The Winter soldier at the movie theater and let me say it did not disappoint. The movie like Iron Man 3 and Thor the Dak world takes place after Marvels The Avenger but tells what happened To Steve Rogers AKA Captain America after the events in New York. I will try to be as spoiler free as i can. here are the good points

1. This movie takes the Marvel cinematic Universe(MCU) and turns it upside down. Make no mistake about it TWS has taken many of the things we have come to expect in a marvel movie and something that had connected them all and turned it upside down not just for the movies but also for the Marvel Agents of Shield tv show. What this movie did was take a major thread throughout the MCU and completely destroy it but in a good way.

2. Captain America has definitely changes and is beginning to question many of the things in todays world which shows a definate growth of the character.

3. Alot of threads were laid down in this movie. Not just for Agents of shield and the future marvel movies but also for the soon to be Agent Carter series and these threads also link back to Iron Man.

4. Black Widow and Falcon are excellent in this movie and pove that caps greatest strength is not his abilities but the ability to lead. Nick Fury and Maria hill are still the greatest spies in the history of the marvel series

5.Aiden Pierce and the Winter soldier as well as those that follow them are true bad guys in what they plan to do and also how they do it.

6. There are alot of big threads that lead back to the first Captain america movie.

7. The action rocked everything we had hoped for plus add a little espionage and some major secrets and you got a geat movie that is on par with the avengers.

8. The hidden scenes during the credits Rock and laid the ground work for the future

what about the bad points

1. First it is a crime that black widow does not have her own movie yet. while this is not the fault of the directors of the movie it needs to be said. Every time Scarlett Johanson was on screen she shined and rocked as the black widow

2. They could have done more with Sharon Carter while she definately was an asset and  i felt she could have done more in the movie.

3. i felt they could have made more connections to Marvel Agents of shield or it feels like all the connecting between the movies and tv shows is being left up to AOS and i think they need do more of that in future marvel movies.

4.you have to keep your eyes open for the easter eggs or you will miss them.

These are very minor gripes to an incedible movie a must see

REmember the past to protect the future

Recently the 4th anniversary of my grandfather dieing went bye and it brought up something. a Saying from a man wiser than me

"Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it" George Santayana Philosopher

Why am i saying this because it seems to me that as the greatest generation fades away so are the stories that they lived and as they pass next will be those of Korea then Vietnam, then gulf war one. These are stories that need to nbe told and remember so that the mistakes done will not be repeated. So if you have someone who has lived through these times or similar times hear their stories and dont let these great stories fade away let them remain so we are not doomed to repeat them.

Thor:The Dark World Blu Ray Review

Well this past week i got to see the second of marvels Phase two movie plan with the release of Marvels Thor the Dark world. And let me say i liked it alot. This movie continue thors story from the avengers and reveals alot of what happened after Thor went back to Asgard. I wont spoil anything for you all but it is a great movie and i have to say alot better than the first. Here is my beakdown:

the good
This movie answered alot of questions that had been lingering since avengers. We get to know what happened between jane and thor, what punishment did loki get, what happened when the tesseract was returned, what about some of the other realms, what about selvig and darcy these all get answered. the action is fast paced when it gets started and it also leaves alot open for a third thor movie. Loki is as evil as ever and the growth of thor from the avengers continues. Before he was a child in avenges you saw him grow up a little in this one you see him mature to something even more mature sometimes than odin. Also the secret scenes are a treat for marvel fans The extras are good espically the inside look at Captain America:The Winter Soldier and the marvel one shot all hail the king, the rest is the usual gag reel, deleted scenes, scoring the movie. But the treat for thor fans will be thor and Loki blood bothers. Which is a look inside loki and thor and their relationship and how it has evolved so far.

the bad
first for a ancient species like the asgard to not have better defenses seems a little out there during some of the scenes. Secondly odin got on my nerves a bit sometimes, also i was expecting more evil from loki

in closing
this is a good movie that has alot of replay value and alot to love about it.

What a winter

well winter is FINALLY done and boy what a one to remember. I mean it was like it was one winter storm right after another, hitting the same places and almost right on top of each other a couple of times i thought i was living out scenes from the movie The Day after Tomorrow. then in places it was not snowing or iceing or sleeting it was no rain and nothing but drought it was unreal now comes two questions

one what does this mean for spring bad tornado season or not

and two why

Book Review Georger Washington's Spies by Alexander Rose

Hello all happy 2014 first post of the new yea lets get it started.

Throughout history there have been the moments that changed the history and these moments are recorded discussed, and analyzed by everyone, then there are the moments, people, and events that are not talked about the happen behind the scenes that few people reconize but if they had not happened would not have made the big moments possible this book is about one of these times and a group of unsung heroes who deserve much credit for allowing a huge change to take place.

The moment was the American Revolution and the men were the men who comprised the Culper Spy Ring
For those hwo dont know in 1779 Washing asked General Ben Tallmidge to recruit men in and around new york to spy on the british these men eventually became known as the Culper Spy ring and they gave washing the info he needed to win the American Revolution

But as the book describes these men and women were not perfect, from the ones who saught adventure to those who wee called to action but scared to fight to the turncoats, all of these men are flawed but all had a single minded determination to bring freedom from a tyrant a world away and because of their actions washington became a president and the United states of america was born.

The book is a good read but it is a story inside a information book, there is alot of information here, but sometimes lose loses focus and gets sidetracked, but you can most assuredly tell he did his research on all of the members of the ring he could from Abraham Woodhall, to Benjamin Tallmidge to Caleb Brewster all of the men and women he could research are id and brought forth. Still though the times the book goes off the rails and describes every member of the culper ring families takes away from what could be a great book but this book gives you a look at what the beginnings of the american spycraft began.
